Myrto currently works within a local authority Youth Justice Service and supports young people, families and professionals in navigating complex trauma, serious youth violence and exploitation within the system. She has prior experience in local authority work when she co-ordinated a Youth Counselling and Substance Misuse service. There much of her clinical and advocacy work promoted harm reduction and thus improvements in emotional and physical safety and wellbeing, through individual therapy, group work and outreach. Myrto also works within private practice where she provides psychotherapy and family and parenting support.

Myrto has a background in the visual arts and has facilitated creative groups in a wide variety of educational and cultural settings. She continues to explore creativity as a tool for self-expression and for improving one’s social and emotional well-being both within her work as a psychotherapist and as an artistic facilitator and educator.

I initially trained as a Psychodynamic Counsellor, furthering my skills and knowledge with a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling (UKCP). I am also a Clinical Supervisor (UKCP). I work in private practice in Enfield with supervisees who work with clients from four years of age through to adolescence and into adulthood, in both long and short term therapy. I use a range of integrative skills, models and mediums to enable a collaborative supervisory relationship. I am a member of the UKCP and BACP. I have experience working with people of all ages, from a wide range of backgrounds experiencing many different emotional difficulties. I also offer consultations, Supervision and therapy to staff and children in Looked After Children’s homes. I have been working as a child, adolescent, and adult art psychotherapist since 2008 in schools, charities, residential clinics and privately.

Working with young people with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties in an educational setting, I offered creative avenues such as painting, sculpture, photography, guided imagery and play as mean of support and working through changes and difficult times. Additionally, at the Bayberry Clinic, I facilitated group and individual art psychotherapy for health care professionals in recovery from substance dependency and mental health difficulties, such as anxiety, depression and eating disorders.
