The Project

Terapia has been embarking on an exciting period of growth and change as we seek to refurbish and develop the Victorian Grade II listed Bothy which is located within Stephens House & Gardens, Finchley.

Funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Heritage Enterprise scheme and the Elliott David Simmons Charitable Trust will enable us to restore the building and bring it back into use as a centre of excellence for training and psychotherapeutic services.

It also presents an exciting opportunity for Terapia to engage with the local community and enable people to learn about The Bothy and its history.

The Bothy building has been closed for general public access for the past twenty years. Prior to that, it was used as a private residence so whilst the majority of local people are aware of its existence, few know of its history or what it looks like inside.

The central foyer of the completed building will house a permanent interactive exhibition which will include a listening post, learning resources and an interactive touch screen.

We are currently working with a passionate group of volunteers who have been researching the history of The Bothy and recording oral history interviews with people who have lived, worked or have memories and stories to share.

We will soon be embarking on work to create content and design for the exhibition and interactive resources, as well as delivering school assemblies and activities for children.

We are keen to get lots of people involved so if you are interested in volunteering and want to find out more, please contact Greer Mac Keogh, our friendly Activities Facilitator!
