Sensory Room
Our sensory room is a one-to-one therapy space which features specialist equipment to stimulate arrested development and allow professionals or parents to facilitate overcoming sensory difficulties. It provides a stimulating environment for those children and young people who require an escalation of their mood and affect. The sensory room caters for children of all ages and provides full disabled access.
Specialist equipment includes:
- Sensory toys
- A ‘Magic Carpet’ interactive projector (interactive floor screen, with stimulating sensory games)
- A coloured bubble machine with Big Mac buttons to change colours
- An auditory sensory wall and Vibroacoustic body cushion and speaker
- A gently rotating wall projector, with a choice of enchanting landscapes
This room can also be used as respite by parents or carers with children (or adults) who are severely physically or learning disabled.
Please note that a responsible adult/psychotherapist must be present at all times. A child/young person must not be left alone in Sensory Room. One child only at any given time.
This room has a capacity for 2 – 3 people.

Car: Parking is not available on site. Metered and limited parking is available nearby.
Underground: Finchley Central on Northern Line High Barnet Branch – approx. 10 minutes on foot
Bus: 82, 143, 460, 125, 326 from and to Central London. Local buses: 611, 643, 653.
Cycle: Cycle stands located with Stephens House & Gardens close to building.
The building is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
Please note there is a secure access to the building through the grounds.
