Introduction
Terapia is one of the leading training organisations in child and adolescent psychotherapy and counselling. We were created in response to the growing demand for highly qualified professionals to work creatively with children and teenagers, and who are equipped with a wide range of therapeutic tools. We are based at The Bothy, 17A East End Road, Finchley, London N3 3QE within the beautiful grounds of Stephens House & Gardens in Finchley, North London.
Terapia has been providing training courses in child and adolescent psychotherapy and counselling for over two decades. We offer in-depth training in therapeutic work with children and young people from an integrative perspective and our training includes all major approaches to child and adolescent psychotherapy and counselling and covers all topics related to children’s mental health.
Courses
MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling
Terapia’s MA programme is a unique course providing in depth training in therapeutic work with children, young people, parents and families from an integrative perspective. The training includes major approaches to child psychotherapy and counselling and covers all topics related children’s mental health.
Duration: Four years part-time
Exit Qualification: MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling (240 credits)
MA Conversion Course
This two year programme has been created specifically for those with previous qualifications in adult counselling and psychotherapy to supplement their previous trainings and clinical experience to obtain qualification and registration as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Counsellor.
Duration: Two years part-time
Exit Qualification: MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling
Foundation Year
During the Foundation Year you will study the major theories in adult psychotherapy and explore a wide range of counselling skills and therapeutic tools. Completion of this year, or an equivalent elsewhere, is a pre-requisite to joining our MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling.
Duration: One year part-time
Exit Qualification: Certificate in Adult Psychotherapy and Counselling (Terapia)
Supervision Training
A unique course that combines process and developmental theories of supervision with models adapted from play therapy, attachment theory and neuroscience.
Duration: 8 weekends starting on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 October 2024, finishing on Saturday 7 June and Sunday 8 June 2025
Exit Qualification: Diploma in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision
Introduction to Therapeutic Work with Children will run in 2026
This experiential workshop is designed to teach you to help children to deal with their difficult feelings and is intended to give participants an insight into psychotherapeutic work with children. This course is not a stand alone qualification in child counselling or psychotherapy.
Duration: Four and a half days
Exit Qualification: Terapia Certificate in Introduction to Therapeutic Work with Children
Senior Mental Health Lead
This unique training course is designed specifically for school leaders and is aimed to help develop the knowledge and skills required for education settings to implement an effective whole school or college approach to positive mental health and wellbeing. The course is FREE for all participating schools after applying for Department for Education (DfE) funding.
