Child MA Course Director / Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education CCPE
CCPE is looking to recruit the Course Director for the Child MA (MA Transpersonal Child, Adolescent and Family Therapy). This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leadership role within CCPE that has become available as Maria Storey Walker will be stepping down as Course Director at the end of the year. It is ideally suited to someone passionate about working with children and young people and who is eager to contribute to this evolving field by training graduates to become mature, genuine, responsible, heart-centered child psychotherapists.
Job description:
This is a professional, academic and managerial leadership role with the Course Director responsible for maintaining high standards in delivering the transpersonal integrative child psychotherapy training at CCPE and the smooth running of the Child MA Course.

Ian Burton / CCPE Management Committee
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining professional standards for child psychotherapy in line with the UKCP/CCAP Standards of Education and Training (SETs); attendance at CCAP full college meetings and other CCAP meetings as required
- Maintaining academic standards for the Child MA in line with requirements from the University of Northampton (UON); liaison with UON Partnership Manager; attendance at pre-board meetings and academic review meetings
- Creating and maintaining CCPE child psychotherapy and Child MA policies in line with requirements of CCAP and UON
- Overseeing Child MA regulations and marking procedures; producing moderation reports, producing marking and grading criteria in consultation with markers; some marking to keep abreast of standards
- Overseeing and updating the Child MA Course curriculum – in line with CCAP SETs and UON requirements – and creating lecture schedules
- Recruitment of and liaison of lecturers; setting learning objectives with lecturers.
- Creating and updating content for Child MA student handbook / Child MA course brochure / Child MA information on CCPE website / Child MA information on CANVAS
- Recruitment of students to the Child MA including interviewing and managing the application process in conjunction with MA Course Administrator; presenting at CCPE Open Evenings; publicising the course to CCPE Diploma students
- Pastoral overview of students and ensuring student feedback mechanisms including termly meetings; managing student complaints; marking queries
- Overview of student progression including fitness to practice; approving mitigating circumstances/extensions, study breaks and exiting the course; liaising with students on study breaks and facilitating their return to the Child MA course
- Recruitment, training, management and support of supervisors (clinical and observation) including chairing and minuting meetings
- Recruitment, training, management and support of markers including chairing and minuting regular meetings
- Liaising with the MA Course Administrator to ensure the smooth running of the course and to assist with any queries
- Overseeing, approval and liaison with clinical placements
- Recruitment of UON external examiner in conjunction with UON, MA Course Administrator and Research MA Course Director; recruitment of UKCP external examiner
- Preparing information and attending meetings of the UON Partnership Review and other formal UON review processes; for the UKCP/CCAP Organisational Membership Review
Person specification:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- UKCP registered child psychotherapist
- Experienced practitioner of 1:1 psychotherapy with children and young people (CYP)
- Good management skills
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication skills
Desirable Experience
- Graduate from Child MA

Contract terms:
Contract: This is a self-employed role paid on an hourly basis.
Scale: Head of Course role: £40 – 50 per/hr depending on experience
Related admin role: £30 per/hr
Hours: approx. 5 hours/week
