£51K pr annum (starting salary)

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to take Terapia’s Therapeutic Services to the next level.   

The jobholder will be part of Terapia’s senior leadership team responsible for leading on Terapia’s strategic growth, community engagement, service delivery and financial sustainability.  They will also manage and develop Terapia’s delivery of clinical services within the Terapia Centre, in our schools programme and through our bespoke training package.

The job holder will be responsible for updating and implementing policies across the organisation, preparing internal reporting and progress updates and preparing tenders and grant applications when applicable. They will develop the Services’ business plan to activate Terapia’s vision for growth of services and financial sustainability of the Centre.

Candidates will have the ability to think strategically and creatively with a solution focused attitude, with awareness of children’s mental health services and related settings such as education, social care, health and the public sector.

Organisation:

Terapia is a leading Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling training organisation, as well as a Therapeutic Services provider. Our courses are validated by Middlesex University and accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). We are also a member organisation of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Associate Member of Child Psychotherapy Council (CPC).

Terapia provides high quality, low-cost psychotherapy and counselling to children, young people, parents, and families in over 35 schools and organisations in London and Southeast of England. We also provide bespoke services in our therapeutic and training centre, “The Bothy.”

Role:

Director of Therapeutic Services will be responsible for leading on strategic growth, community engagement, service delivery and financial sustainability as well as the management of the service’s daily activities at the Bothy and in all organisations involved in service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the overall direction for Terapia’ s Therapeutic Services in line with the CEO and the Board of Trustees’ vision for the charity including the Bothy services, schools’ projects, organisations, and local community engagement.
  • Leading on the strategic growth, overseeing and management of Terapia’s Therapeutic Services at the Bothy, including external bookings. Supporting and line management of the facilities management staff and two receptionists.
  • Line management of two members of staff (Clinical Lead and School Service Coordinator) and five other staff members working as part of Terapia’s Whole School Approach and the Hendon Collaborative projects.
  • Owning and developing the Services’ business plan to activate Terapia’s vision for growth of services and financial sustainability of the Centre. Ongoing responsibility for developing new business opportunities and developing additional revenue streams. Setting budgets and targets for Terapia’ Services.
  • Liaising with external agencies, statutory and non-statutory organisations, schools, head teachers, senior schools’ staff, and governors in order to nurture relationships, identify new clients and secure new contracts.
  • Promoting and raising awareness of Terapia’s therapeutic services through existing networks, local publicity and building Terapia’s social media presence.
  • Preparing tenders and grant applications, to secure financial sustainability of the service when applicable.
  • Reporting to Terapia’s funders on how grants are used to meet specifications set out in tenders and applications.
  • Development and management of a monitoring and evaluation systems including information from the Therapeutic Services’ database.
  • Updating and implementing policies across the organisation to meet standards in the field of therapeutic provision and mental health services.
  • Leading on administrative, marketing and budgeting responsibilities relating to the smooth running of our services. This includes working together with the relevant members of staff to ensure smooth running of the booking system for the centre’s therapy rooms, ensuring that Terapia’s website is up to date in reference to Therapeutic Services and the School Services.
  • Preparing internal reporting and progress updates for the CEO and Board of Trustees as required.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by the CEO in line with the overall purposes of the organisation.

  • Awareness of Children’s Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and related settings such as education, social care, health, public sector.

Desirable Skills:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of primary and secondary school environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding processes and ethical dilemmas.
  • A recognised child psychotherapy qualification with UKCP or ACP training organisation would be an advantage.
